OTC Drugs Recall

Posted by Laura on May 3, 2010

McNeil Consumer Healthcare is initiating a voluntary recall of many of their products (more than 40) because they don’t meet quality standards of precise amounts of active ingredients. Throw away all your Tylenol, Motrin, Zyrtec and Benadrl for children. You can get a coupon from McNeil for a new container or even refund. Click on the Link below for the full information. Though I read on the internet, many of the lots weren’t sold in the US, the news on the TV said you should just throw away the ones you have in your cabinets and start fresh. This is an important consideration for elderly using children’s medications also.

According to Fox News and FDA today  – Adverse Reactions: drowsiness, changes in behavior and pattern, cardiac dysrhythmia, tachycardia.

Some bottles have higher concentrations of active ingredients, or particles of inactive ingredients that may not work.
